This stone is a product of the Elbie River in Brazil.  It is a tumbled chunk of quartz which has a frosty/powdery outside and a polished clear window side.

It is commonly found in four colors:

Light pink - rose quartz

Light grey – smoky quartz

Clear – clear quartz

Lilac -amethyst

Using stone is easy and the results can be profound.

Simply gaze into the window side of the stone, taking mental note of any apparent flaws or things that stand out.  (You may have to hold it up to a light or the sun for a good view.)

Now you (or a friend) hold the stone in the fist for 15-20 minutes.  Now examine the stone again.  The energy of the person who held the stone will have caused changes within the stone -what originally just looked like fissures in the rock could now look like letters of the alphabet, animals etc.  Everyone’s energy is different is will affect the stone in its own unique way.

Another way to use the stone is to put it under your pillow and it will be transformed by the energy of your dreams.

Quartz vs Apophyllite

Quartz vs Apophyllite

Both Quartz and Apophyllite are structurally the same and are members of the quartz family.
Like quartz, they both come in many colors. Most commonly for quartz clear, smoky & rose.
Most commonly for  apophylllite clear, black (strongest) and recently purple.

Can you tell which is which?

They also have many differences - Apart from the fact that quartz is much easier to spell and pronounce!
Their identifying points differ as do their metaphysical uses.
Look on the bottom for quick identifying marks.
Quartz is always 6 sided
Apophyllite is a cube - 4 sided.

 As well, if you look on the bottom, every apophyllite will have a cross - some are harder to see than  others.  Hold it up to the light and move around, you will see a cross.

There are pages and pages written about both crystals. You simply need to insert their name in any search engine-Google for example.
Here are a few unusual facts about each.
Clear quartz:
-most abundant crystal on the planet
-Different meanings and uses depending on culture.
Japanese consider it the breath of the white dragon and therefore perfection.
Australian aborigines consider it the stone for making rain

Apophyllite:
Apophyllite is associated primarily with the third eye and crown chakras.

Natural Apophyllite pyramids are the most powerful formation of the energy stimulating crystals,
Used in gem elixirs it is said to bring energy to the heart chakra, as well as to charge or preserve objects.
Apophyllite is associated primarily with the third eye and crown chakras.
 Used on the third eye this is the most powerful form to stimulate third eye vision.
In traditional folk and crystal healing,                
It is used for tired or stressed eyes by placing on the eyelids.
 It is used similarly in different body regions for respiratory problems, stopping asthma attacks, allergies, and health of mucus membranes and skin.

Tibetan Quartz Om Crystal

TIBETAN QUARTZ OM CRYSTAL

This crystal is perhaps one of the best  kept secrets in the metaphysical world.
It looks like a rough quartz crystal but it is so much more.

These crystals come from very high 

altitudes in the Hymalan mountain range. They must be hand harvested and only in the springtime. Despite this they are very affordable. You should be able to get a nice piece for under $10.

They most commonly come in  clear  quartz but can also be found in black, purple. Some people see it in pink but this is just a variation  of the purple.

It's properties are much different from the typical quartz crystal.

They encompass the full spectrum of colors and emit the sacred OM vibration.
They embody ancient sacred wisdom and are wonderful for anyone on a sacred journey.
As they continuously clean the aura of anything nearby they are often worn close to the chest.
They do emit a subtle buzz most people can sense.
Clear is most common; black is considered the most powerful.
I find that most metaphysical shops do not handle them but they are readily available on eBay.

Crystals for Hospice -transitionitng to death

From Life through Death.


Crystals are often forgotten when death appears knocking.  What a pity!  Crystals can be a very powerful tool to assist in trnsistioning.

As Reiki Awakening Academy is offering a series of classes specific to Hospice/Death and Dying, I thought it appropriate we learn what is available to us in the mineral kingdom to assist us in this process.

This blog will deal specifically with crystals to assist in transition.

A future  blog will deal with crystals that aid the grieving process.   

To clear up any confusion - a single crystal can have  many uses.   Just because I list it here doesn't mean one of its other properties can't make it useful for another situation.

Also remember that regular clear quartz is the "universal magnifier".  If a large stone is outside your budget, get the best one you can afford & place it on or near a piece of clear quartz.


Make sure your stones are  clean and vibrating at the highest level possible.  Let them rest periodically on or near a piece of selenite nature's universal cleanser.

TEKTITE

Not really a crystal, tektite is  a combination of extra terrestial glass- brown, green and black -extra terrestial debris.
It helps to thin the veil between the dimensions.  
This can be useful for the caregiver &  dying alike.

Transitions death by bringing calm and a certain knowledge of inner truths.

BOTSWANA AGATE

It is said that it wraps it's gentle blues and grays around the soul keeping it protected and safe  releasing it tenderly at time of death.

Traditionally the stone of  protection during transition.

AMAZONITE

Part of the Egyptian Book of the Dead was engraved on amazonite.  Amazonite is said to bring  Peace to the transition process.

MOOKAITE also known as MOOKAITE JASPER

These are two of my favorite pieces of Mookiate  from my 
personal collection.

Mookiate does not seem to be at all common in the USA.  It is found only in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia by the Mooka River. 

It is available on eBay with pieces the size of those shown in the $12 ball park pricing. (Make sure your piece says it originated in Australia).

It is an Aboriginal Mother Earth Stone and carries an invigorating frequency of strength and  vitality, increasing Life Force with in the physical body.

Uses:
-increases self confidence 
-increases self worth
-helps one realize one's full potential
-placing Mookaite against the upper stomach activates the solar plexus (the seat of personal power)
-over comes procrastination by replacing it with motivation
-removes distracting thoughts allowing one to focus
-amplifies instinct  - hold mookaite near your gut for strong gut feelings
-gives assistance in "knowing" what direction to take in physical travel as well a astral travel.

Because of it's vivid colors and markings, it also makes an excellent scrying stone.
